Peru's Cordillera Huayhuash, aptly pronounced ‘Why Wash’, is a legendary mountain range in outdoors circles. It was here where Joe Simpson ‘touched the void’, or rather fell into it, and made his remarkable broken legged bid for survival.

Sam and I had biked part of it previously and despite sharing our tales of hardship, Dan and Lucas (Alpamayo Designs testers) were still chomping at the bit to give it a crack. An unfortunate case of giardia delayed proceedings somewhat, but the Huayhuash bikepacking mission would be stopped by no parasite, and the intrepid duo rolled out of town kitted out with the latest Alpamayo gear...

The following incredible shots by Dan go someway to convey the awesomness of the Cordillera Huayhuash, an area that's quite unaccustomed to seeing gringos riding bikes...

Clean bike, new bags...

Puya, 'queen of the Andes'

A great wild camp just below Pastoruri.

 Not bad...

 Somewhere few bikes have ventured

Bikepacking Huayhuash isn't without it's fair share of hike-a-bike, as Lucas can attest to as grinds up the final pass of the route...

Before blasting down the other side towards civilisation. Fair play guys!
